Oilfield Housing for Barnett Shale

Though much of Barnett Shale is under the DFW Metroplex, that does not always mean there is easy access to hotels. Even if there is, your crew can spend a considerable amount of time sitting in DFW traffic trying to get to the drilling site. By utilizing on-site oilfield housing for Barnett Shale, your workers can stay on location. In an industry where 16 hour days are the standard, less travel time leads to more time to rest and more productive employees the following day. Whether you need to house a single crew or several hundred workers, we can create a customized lease for you.

History of Barnett Shale

Barnett Shale, one of the largest on shore natural gas formations in the United States, is located in the Bent-Arch Fort Worth Basin. Covering over 5,000 square miles, much of Barnett Shale lies under the heavily populated DFW Metroplex. Scientists first discovered the formation in the early 20th century and named it after the nearby Barnett Stream. Though the first well was drilled by Mitchell Energy in 1981, it was not until 1997 that the company switched to a slickwater frac and discovered how to successfully extract enough gas to be profitable. Upon learning of the finally successful technique, dozens of oil companies descended upon the area and quickly took over the majority of well sites in the formation. Through the techniques of horizontal drilling and fracking, Barnett Shale was the most productive source of shale gas in the US from 2002 – 2010. As many areas of the formation are under residential areas and have been left untouched, Barnett Shale will continue to produce as drilling techniques evolve.
